The Windsor-Essex Economic Development Corporation has a new CEO.
Stephen MacKenzie's spent most of his 31-year career in economic development, and is impressed with what he's seeing in Windsor.
"I'm just thrilled with the committment to innovation," he says. "Working with the music incubator; very forward thinking, very innovative idea. Working with the business accelerators."
MacKenzie worked in the US for 17-years and also spent time in Belgium. He thinks he can use that international experience to get local businesses into more global markets.
The new CEO admits he still has a lot to learn about the region and its industries.
He expects it to take a few months before he can sit down with WEEDC staff and adjust some of its strategies and set new goals for the region.
WEEDC Board Chair Marty Komsa says interim CEO Rakesh Naidu was one of the final candidates for the job, and is hopeful to keep him on as part of the Corporation.
