South Windsor To Be Better Served

Construction's underway on a new $6.5-million fire hall and emergency operations centre in south Windsor.

Windsor Fire Chief Bruce Montone says money's being saved by building the two facilities next to each other.

"The washroom facilities in the fire station will also serve the EOC," he explains. "The kitchen facilities, meeting spaces, rest areas, will all be shared between the EOC and the station."

This new hall is located on Provincial Rd., just east of the 6th Consession.

It replaces the temporary station which was established at Windsor's airport, back in 2006.

Montone says they'll now be able to better serve Wards 1, 10 and 9 -- which is a developing area.

Construction's expected to be finished by August of 2017.
