Millions Being Committed To Local Consolidation

The Greater Essex County District School Board's plan for consolidating in Kingsville is getting a large boost from the province today.

Education Minister Liz Sandals is announcing $44-million to help build the new Kindergarten-to-Grade 12 facility, which will double as a child care centre.

"You'll have a school where there's a critical mass of students, that allows the board to provide a broader range of programs for the students," explains the minister.

Sandals says the money comes from $750-million that the province has put aside for school consolidation capital over the next four years.

The new state-of-the-art Kingsville school will house 1,800 students from Harrow District High School, Jack Minor Public School, Kingsville Public School and Kingsville District High School.

Sandals also announced $9-million towards Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board projects.
