Hospital Levy Discussion Deferred

Discussion on the proposed hospital levy was deferred to a special meeting of Windsor City Council next week.

Council voted to defer the debate on the 2.19% levy because Councillor Irek Kusmiercyzk was not in attendance. Mayor Drew Dilkens says he received notification around 12:30 Monday afternoon that all members would not be at the meeting and decided to request the deferral.

"When we're dealing with the largest capital spend in the history of the City of Windsor at $108-million it's important that we have all elected members, who aren't in a conflict of interest position, around the table for that discussion," says Dilkens.

Councillor Bill Marra was also missing from last night's meeting however he is unable to vote on the issue because of his employment with Hotel-Dieu Grace Health Care.

The special meeting of council will be held on Monday April 25 at 6pm prior to the regularly scheduled Executive Council meeting. All Councillors have indicated they will be present.
