Contempt Order Dismissed

The City of Windsor and Town of Tecumseh will not be held in contempt of court over ads played on a local radio station regarding the opt-out campaign.

Justice Patterson of the Superior Court of Justice dismissed the contempt motion in a decision released Thursday.

In his decision, Patterson says he does not believe the city or the town deliberately breached the order to refrain from further communications about the campaign.

He says because the defendants made an effort to stop the new radio advertisements when they became aware of them they were showing compliance with the order.

A release from the City of Windsor states, "Officials will continue to respect and abide by the court’s earlier order limiting communications and will therefore have no further comment on this matter during the opt-out period."
