The Molson Canadian CARHA Hockey World Cup is underway in Windsor and local players are eager to get out on the ice.
LaSalle's Chris Hill with the Windsor Old Timers says it's going to be fun to live out his NHL dreams playing in net in the tournament.
"Whether it be five people or 500 people in the stands, we're really looking forward to it," says Hill. "I know the other players, the wives and girlfriends and kids, they're excited about waving a Canada flag."
The CARHA Hockey World Cup runs until April 10 with games being played in Windsor, LaSalle and Tecumseh. Over 2,000 players are set to take part.
Hill thinks the tournament will show Windsor's good side.
"I grew up in this town [Windsor]. I live in LaSalle, I'm excited about playing at the Vollmer [Complex]. It's long overdue," says Hill. "Windsor has kind of had a bad fog over it for years. This I think is going to put us on the map for sure."
Sandy Garneau will be watching the Windsor Old Timers from the stands.
"Oh, it's going to be great for Windsor. I'm looking forward to watching all the games," says Garneau.
The city beat out 36 other cities in securing hosting rights, paying $750,000 with the tournament expected to generate $15-million in economic activity.
