The Essex Region Conservation Authority has issued flood watch for the Windsor-Essex area.
The conservation authority says the potential for flooding exits due to another 5 mm to 20 mm of rainfall that is expected to fall Thursday night. Low lying areas adjacent to areas on all major waterways will be most affected.
Due to the potential of high intensity isolated thunderstorms, flooding and drainage problems may also be possible in urban areas.
The storms are predicted produce 25-45 km/hr winds, with the potential for wind gusts of up to 80 km/hr.
A possibility of flooding, shoreline erosion and damaging waves exists along the Lake Erie shoreline in the Town of Amherstburg, the Town of Essex, the Town of Kingsville, the southern shoreline of the Municipality of Leamington and the southern and western shorelines of Pelee Island.
The conservation authority is advising residents to avoid flowing and standing water, as it can be extremely hazardous.
The watch will remain in effect until 9am on Friday.
