UPDATE: Record Rainfall In Windsor-Essex

A flood advisory remains in effect for Windsor-Essex, following a record-breaking rainfall Thursday.

Environment Canada is reporting 41.8 mm of rain fell in Windsor Thursday. The previous record for March 24 was set back in 1954, when 39.6 mm fell.

The Essex Region Conservation Authority says there is a possibility of flooding and drainage problems in locations affected by thunderstorms throughout the entire region, especially in urban areas and all low lying areas near floodplain areas on all major waterways.

Residents are advised to avoid flowing and standing water as it can become extremely hazardous.

The advisory is expected to remain in effect until 9am on Friday.
