Catholic School Board Reaches Deal With ECEs

Several weeks of bargaining between the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board and CUPE Locals 1358.1 and 1358.2 have finally resulted in a tentative contract.

The deal covers about 400 educational assistants, child and youth workers, paraprofessionals and early childhood educators employed with the board.

"These employees play a critical role in maintaining the inclusive atmosphere that we have created in our schools," says Executive Superintendent of Human Resources Terry Lyons. "We believe this will provide them with fair compensation while respecting the need to responsibly manage our resources."

Negotiations with the board's full-time secondary and elementary school teachers continue, along with talks with Unifor Local 2458 which represents custodial, maintenance, office, clerical and technical workers.
