Sales Up For 11th Consecutive Month

The Windsor-Essex County Association of Realtors says housing sales continue to increase in Windsor-Essex.

Its latest report says 453 homes changed hands. That's down from 500 in October, but up 21.45% compared to November 2014 when 373 houses sold. The year-to-date numbers indicate another sizable increase of 18.14% over 2014.

The price of the average home in Windsor-Essex also climbed again last month to $198,307, an increase of 5.93% over November 2014, and up 4.61% so far this year.

As for housing starts, the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation says construction started on a total of 62 single and multi-unit homes in November, tumbling 39% from November 2014. A 92% drop in multi-unit housing starts accounts for the drop.  However, Windsor-Essex is still ahead of 2014 in year-to-date figures. They show an increase of 20% between January and November compared to the year before.

Housing starts across Canada are up 6% while provincially they jumped 24%.
