United Way Going Bold

The United Way of Windsor and Essex County is setting this year's fundraising goal higher than ever before.

CEO Lorraine Goddard says the Bold Possibilities Campaign is looking to raise $7.5-million.

"A number of years ago, we had almost 40,000 donors. So we know that there are still a lot of people that can give, and even if they gave $2 or $4 a week, we could easily reach that goal this year," she explains.

Goddard says one in five Windsor-Essex residents live in poverty, including more than 23,000 kids and teenagers.

This campaign runs until March of 2016.

Last year's fundraising goal was $5.1-million, of which the United Way was able to raise about $5-million.
