Water Tower Gets $1-Million Make Over

Leamington's water tower is getting a $1.1-million dollar face lift.

Scaffolding will begin surrounding the red tower, standing tall a top the town on Talbot St. W this week.

Union Water General Manager Rodney Bouchard says it will take about 20-weeks to complete the job. "They have to sandblast it to bare metal inside and outside. The crews have to encapsulate the entire thing, so they're going to be erecting scaffolding around it. By the time that's complete, you won't be able to see the tower."

The Union Water board hasn't decided what colour the tower will be painted.

Bouchard says the tower will be taken out of service for about 12-weeks, but it won't impact the service.
