Greenway Extending Into Leamington

After over a decade of plans, the Chrysler Greenway will soon connect with Leamington's trail system.

Leamington council approved a $400,000 tender to build a trail running along Mersea Rd. 3 to land owned by ERCA at the Albuna Town Line. The trail will then head east, linking with the greenway at County Rd. 34.

Leamington Director of Community Services Rob Sharon says the trail is being funded by the Trans-Canada Trail program. "Although these particular initiatives were identified in (the County-Wide Active Transportation Study), this is a Trans-Canada Trail specific initiative."

Construction on the new link could begin as soon as this week.
