Essex is looking to get more houses built in Harrow with a 50% cut to development charges.
Mayor Ron McDermott says the reduction is only available for Ward 4.
"Hopefully doing this out in the Harrow area which needs the most assistance, this will spur some development over there," says McDermott. "Infrastructure is humongous; we need more development to assist with the paying of those fees."
A previous decision from council to reduce development charges for the entire municipality was voided after a procedural error was caught.
The cut is in effect for the next 18 months with money to cover the reduction coming from reserves in the short-term while 2016 budget talks should produce a longer-term solution.
