Acquittal Reversed For Windsor Constable

Windsor Police Constable Kent Rice isn't being acquitted of assault after all.

The Ontario Court of Appeal heard from the Crown just last week, and is restoring the finding of guilt from the original trial.

The court says the suspension of the sentence by the trial judge is being set aside, while a conditional discharge sentence is now being imposed.

It basically means Rice now must comply with probation orders on the same terms and for the amount of time originally imposed by the trial judge. He had been sentenced to one-year probation and 60 hours of community service back in September of 2013.
