Police Warning About Phone Spoofing

The Windsor Police Service Financial Crimes Unit is warning the public after several people have had calls on their landlines seemingly from themselves.

The caller I.D. shows the homeowner's own number. On many occasions, the phone is picked up only for the line to go dead. But on others, an automated voice asks the homeowner to press one to update their credit card information.

Nobody has been taken in by the scam, but police are reminding the public not to give out their personal information over the phone. And if you do get a call where the caller I.D. shows your own number, consider letting it ring.
