Gignac Announces Candidacy

Windsor Ward 5 Councillor Jo-Anne Gignac is taking a run at federal politics.

She's seeking the Conservative Party nomination in Windsor-Tecumseh.

Gignac says she had been courted by other political parties, but ultimately decided on the Conservatives. "Families, controlling taxes, being secure, those are all cornerstones of the Conservative Party, and it just seemed the perfect fit for me."

A federal Conservative Party nomination meeting is expected to be held next month.

Percy Hatfield was the most recent Windsor councillor to leave his seat in favour of higher office, as he became MPP for Windsor-Tecumseh back in 2013.
