Police have wrapped up their investigation into last fall's municipal election in Windsor and say they could not find evidence of criminality.
Constable Andrew Drouillard says five investigators in the Financial Crimes Unit spent two months pouring over the evidence. Drouillard couldn't say how much the investigation cost the service but admits it did put some other investigations on the back burner. "Our investigators took this as a priority."
No further action will be taken by police.
In an update to the media back on March 26, Windsor Police Chief Al Frederick said investigators had found no evidence of criminality but were exploring three new areas of concern after meeting with the complainants. Police investigated 35 allegations involving ballots cast in the election.
The identity of the complainants and the specific nature of the allegations will not be released.
