Horwath Supports Leamington OB Unit

The leader of the provincial NDP toured the Leamington obstetrics unit this morning, showing support for the campaign fighting to keep it open.

Andrea Horwath says it was busy when she was walking through the unit. "In the 24-hour period we're now in the middle of, there will have been seven births. I think they're at six now and there is one more to come. It's a pretty busy place."

Horwath says the Liberal government needs to find the $1-million in annual funding to keep the unit open.

The Erie St. Clair LHIN expects a report at the beginning of May, which will outline the OB unit's future viability.
