Police Say Share The Road

Police in Windsor are cracking down on drivers, e-bike riders, motorcyclists, cyclists and pedestrians who don't follow the rules of the road.

The service is launching its Share the Road initiative today, which runs the entire month of April.

Constable Matt D'Asti says traffic typically increases when the weather warms up, and intersections can be particularly treacherous. "We know that the profile of a motorcycle on a highway can be a very, very small thing. If we're used to just looking for a car, then we may be missing that," says D'Asti. "If you're clearing an intersection and proceeding, definitely make sure that you're doing your proper checks."

Officers won't focus all their effort on drivers. "This is going to apply to everybody who uses the roadways," says D'Asti. "Even pedestrians going across on the red."
