There have been three incidents in the past five days where a noose was left for a worker at the Windsor Assembly Plant.
The business manager of the union that represents the worker describes the incidents as "gut wrenching."
LiUNA Local 625, Windsor Police and Fiat-Chrysler are investigating after a worker found a noose on a cart he uses. A second noose was found Friday. The plant is shut down, but workers from a number of trades are assisting with retooling.
Rob Petroni with LiUNA Local 625 is confident the investigation will find the perpetrator, and if they are a member of LiUNA, he says they could face removal from the union. "That may be their worst case scenario."
As for the worker targeted in the incident, Petroni says the union is taking its cues from the employee when it comes to providing support.
Petroni says the reaction from both his members and other trades has been universal. "This doesn't happen on the job sites," he says. "I mean, they have some work scuffles and little arguments here and there, but nothing of this magnitude."
"A situation like this, believe it or not, doesn't happen very often. I can't remember the last time it has happened. I can't think of one incident. Basically, what we've done is mobilized everybody, all of our reps in our office in trying to get to the bottom of it."
Windsor police and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles are both investigating.
