Crime Stoppers Raising Profile

Officials with Windsor and Essex County Crime Stoppers feel they can help with crime issues in Leamington.

Constable Ryan Burney told the police services board this week, they can give people an anonymous way to report crimes they witness.

The group hopes to raise their profile in the town.

"They're not comfortable calling police, they don't want to go to court, they don't want their name out in the public," says Burney. "We offer them an opportunity to call crime stoppers anonymously and they never have to go to court. If they're successful, they could win a cash reward."

Burney says he already visits law classes at high schools in Leamington. He's also agreed to meet with the uptown Leamington BIA to discuss crime reporting with business owners.
