The Wallaceburg Lakers take on the Dresden Jr. Kings tonight with a new head coach behind the bench.
Derek Ellis was named the head coach Monday after Marc Swayze resigned Sunday night following the Lakers 10-1 loss to the Blenheim Blades.
Ellis says due to the poor weather on Monday the team hasn't even practiced under him yet.
"I know most of the kids and I've seen them play," says Ellis. "They know me and I know them, but it is going to be a learning curve no doubt. I wish we could of had a practice or two with them."
Monday night's practice was cancelled due to the weather.
Ellis was an assistant coach for the Lakers when Ken Shine was the head coach.
Also joining the Lakers as an assistant coach is Ryan Paxton, who comes over from the Kings.
