Local runners compete in cross-country championships in Serbia

Two Sarnia area runners competed in the World Athletics Cross-Country Championships Saturday morning in Belgrade, Serbia.

Connor Black of Forest and Andrew Davies of Sarnia participated in the Seniors Men's Division Race which was held at 8:30 a.m. eastern time.

The runners took on hot weather for the five-lap race in Belgrade with the temperature reaching 27 C.

Davies came in at 57th place with a time of 30:27.

Black did not finish the race but made it to the second lap, where he landed in 83rd place with a time of 12:11

As for the entire championship, Canada ranked 13th with placing 8th in a senior division race.
