Rees excluded from Canada's world junior selection camp

Sarnia Sting forward Jamieson Rees has been left off of Hockey Canada's world junior selection camp roster.

The decision comes as Rees is in the midst of a strong season with 13 goals and 39 points in 20 games played.

He was chosen by the Carolina Hurricanes in the second round of the 2019 NHL Draft after injuries limited him to 37 games last season.

He'll still be eligible to be invited to the team next season.

A total of 12 Ontario Hockey League players got the invite, including Quinton Byfield (SBY), Ty Dellandrea (FLT), Aidan Dudas (OS), Liam Foudy (LDN), Connor McMichael (LDN), Cole Perfetti (SAG), Akil Thomas (NIA), Thomas Harley (MIS), Jamie Drysdale (ER), Kevin Bahl (OTT), Nico Daws (GUE), and Hunter Jones (PBO).

Other notable names include Rimouski's Alexis Lafreniere who is projected to be one of the top picks in the 2020 NHL Draft.

NHL draft picks Nolan Foote, Peyton Krebs, Raphael Lavoie, and Ty Smith are also in the mix.

Selection camp gets underway on December 9 in Oakville. The players will compete against a squad from USPORTS on December 11 and 12.

Canada will face the United States on Boxing Day to kick off this year's event in the Czech Republic.
