Legionnaires Lose In Leamington

The Sarnia Legionaires dropped a 4-2 decision in Leamington Sunday evening.

Joey Zappa opened the scoring for the visitors 13 seconds into the contest to give Sarnia an early lead. Sam McCormack added to the lead less than a minute late.

The Flyers were able to find the back of the net later in the opening period, trimming Sarnia's lead to 2-1. A powerplay goal even things at two in the second period.

The game remained tied until the final few minutes when Zak Parlette scored for Leamington with 1:46 left on the third period clock. The Flyers added an empty netter in the game's final seconds to secure the victory.

Sarnia surrendered a powerplay goal on six opportunities, and were unable to find the back of the net on their three man advantages.

A pair of weekday home games for the Legionnaires. They'll host Leamington in a rematch Tuesday night, before welcoming the London Nationals to Sarnia Arena Thursday night.
