Braves Win Michigan Cup

The Sarnia Braves defeated the Pontiac Red Birds 3-1 Sunday to claim their second straight Michigan Cup Championship.

Anthony Shepherd threw five innings of one-hit baseball before handing the game over to Mike Damchuk for the save. Sarnia also defeated Pontiac in the 2015 championship game.

Earlier in the day, Sarnia defeated the St. Clair Shores Nationals 4-0 in the quarterfinals, on the backs of a Nick Baljeu complete game shutout. In the semifinal it was Wade Babula's turn to toss a complete game, in a 9-1 win over the Macomb Tigers.
