Sarnia Sting defenseman Jakob Chychrun has been named OHL Rookie of the Month for January.
The first overall pick in last year's OHL Priority Selection had five goals and six assists in 12 games last month.
Chychrun's January was highlighted in a game January 8 when the 16-year-old scored the winning goal with two seconds remaining in a 4-3 upset of Connor McDavid and the Erie Otters.
A native of Boca Raton, Florida, Chychrun has ten goals and 12 assists in 27 games in his rookie season with the Sting.
