It's sure to be an exciting day for car and music enthusiasts alike.
Rumble on the Runway is set for Saturday, September 26 at Sarnia's Chris Hadfield Airport.
Hadfield and his band, Bandella, will perform at Hangar Two, starting at 7 p.m.
The popular local astronaut leads the band, which features other retired astronauts Cady Coleman, Steve Robinson, Ken Cockrell, Dan Burbank, and Micki Pettit.
They'll be playing family-friendly acoustic folk, bluegrass, and jazz tunes. The concert will also feature local country music icon Emm Gryner who will be performing a few songs.
General admission tickets, available at www.revelreetickets.com, are $30 and VIP seats are $60.
Gryner said she's excited for the show.
"Chris and I are going to do a duet on a Canadian classic that we've never done before, I'll leave it there for suspense," said Gryner. "I've learned so much from Chris. He taught me a lot about letting go of control. You can only control what you can control. Sometimes I feel like that applies to the music industry as well."
Huron Flight Services is helping put on the event.
Event Coordinator Mike Kilbreath said it's sure to be a great day.
"I was talking with Chris about it and he's excited to bring the astronauts down here to Sarnia to play at his venue," said Kilbreath. "It's going to be just incredible and we're looking forward to it."
Kilbreath said starting at noon, there's a classic car and airplane show taking place featuring over 300 hot rods.
"A big club out of London is coming in for this one," he said. "A lot of people dig those hot rods, and we'll be having a burn out contest as well."
Kilbreath said there will also be draws and prizes available.
Admission is by donation at the gates, to the Salvation Army Food Bank.
Bayview Chrysler and RBC Dominion Securities are sponsoring the day.
