Crown withdraws charges in Ogilvie homicide investigation

Sarnia police say charges against two people, accused of first degree murder in the 2023 death of Bradley Ogilvie, have been withdrawn by the Crown.

Robin Alexander Maness and Trevor John Waller were initially charged in September of 2024.

Police said sufficient evidence was presented at a preliminary hearing to commit the accused to stand trial. Since then, a witness has died and based on evidence and consultation with the family, it was determined there was no reasonable prospect of conviction.

Police said the service is "committed to conducting complete and thorough investigations, and we respect the difficult decisions that the Crown's office has made in this specific case."

"The police investigation into this matter was thorough, and no effort was spared in the pursuit of justice for Brad Ogilvie and his family," police said in a news release. "On behalf of the Sarnia Police Service, we extend our condolences and support to the Ogilvie family as they navigate this outcome."

Anyone with new information regarding this case is asked to contact the Sarnia Police Service, Major Case Action Team, at 519-344-8861.
