Preparations underway for spring tree planting

The City of Sarnia is preparing to plant close to 200 trees this spring.

Local residents may have noticed locates underway this week, with planting to begin in mid April.

In a post to Facebook, the city said the focus this year will be in the Rapids, Magnolia Trails, and Heritage Park developments.

Out of 182 trees planted this spring, 137 will be planted on city-owned boulevards, and will be maintained by forestry staff.

Last year, Sarnia council approved a revised Urban Forest Management Plan (UFMP), setting a goal to increase the urban canopy to 23 per cent by 2050.
