Renovations at major London Rd. businesses among February building permits

Renovations at Progressive Auto Sales Arena (PASA) gave building stats a little boost in February.

Sarnia City Hall issued a total of 22 permits last month, valued at $5.7 million.

In November 2025, council approved $2.6 million to replace the refrigeration plant at PASA, which was scheduled to align with the arena's shutdown this spring/summer.

A $900,000 permit was also issued in February for renovations at Lambton Mall.

Year-over-year construction activity in Sarnia is ahead of last year's pace, with a total of 50 permits so far valued at just over $8.3 million. That's up from 41 permits in the first two months of 2025 valued at just over $5.3 million.

The monthly statistics also included one permit for a single family dwelling, bringing the year-to-date total for new homes to two.
