Permit for Lambton College residence boosts October building numbers

A permit for Lambton College's new student residence has boosted Sarnia's building statistics for the month of October.

Last month, the city issued 29 permits, totaling $43.84 million.

Included in the numbers is a $37 million dollar permit for the new residence at 1457 London Road.

That will assist in the creation of 127 multi-residential units for the month.

A $2 million permit was issued for construction of a new home at 2056 Lakeshore Road, and the city also approved a $1.2 million residential renovation at 542 Woodrowe Avenue.

In all, three permits were issued for single family homes, worth just over $3-million.

Year-over-year construction activity in Sarnia is trailing last year's pace.

A total of 348 permits have been issued so far in 2025, compared to 429 during the first ten months of 2024.
