Sarnia woman collects $55K in OLG's Money Machine

A Sarnia woman is $55,000 richer after trying her luck with the OLG's Money Machine.

Decked out in a jumpsuit and fanny pack, 65-year-old Maureen Hummell stepped into the machine and was given 30 seconds to grab as many bills as she could.

She won the chance on an instant ticket.

Maureen said she purchases lottery tickets every week.

“I found out I won while I was at the store,” she shared. “The cashier scanned my ticket for me, and the screen said ‘MONEY MACHINE LIVE EVENT WINNER.’ I was so surprised. I’ve never won anything like this in my life!”

She said it was an amazing experience.

"Seeing the machine for the first time was so exciting,” she said. "As the bills started flying, I tried to grab as many as I could. I couldn’t wait to find out my total. When I finally saw the big cheque for $55,000, I felt emotional and began to cry."

With her windfall, Maureen plans to travel somewhere tropical with her boyfriend and take her son to a waterpark.

The winning ticket was purchased at Circle K on Exmouth Street in Sarnia.
