Sting hire Chicago-based scout

The Sarnia Sting organization is hoping the addition of a new scout in Chicago, Illinois, will help enhance the team's reach into U.S. markets, positioning them for future success.

The Ontario Hockey League (OHL) club announced the hiring of Matt Grainda on Wednesday, citing his experience in talent evaluation and player recruitment.

"We have been looking for a scout in the Chicago area,” said Sting General Manager Dylan Seca. “Matt has the track record of being a good talent evaluator and recruiter. We welcome him to the Sting family.”

The Sting said Grainda will play a key role in identifying and recruiting American talent as the OHL continues to evolve with recent changes to player eligibility.

As of this season (2025-2026), OHL players will be eligible for NCAA Division I hockey, providing players with more development opportunities.
