Yellow fentanyl seized in Kathleen Avenue bust

Sarnia police continue to take drugs off of the city's streets.

Officers seized over 80 grams of yellow fentanyl, worth more than $8,000, from a home on Kathleen Avenue.

On Thursday August 21, at around 7:50 p.m., the Major Case Action Team (MCAT), supported by the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and K9 Vader, executed a drug related search warrant.

When police arrived, there were 10 people inside of the home, including a man who was allegedly attempting to dispose of fentanyl in a bathroom.

Police said drug trafficking paraphernalia such as scales, phones, and drug packaging was also confiscated, along with $1,140 in cash.

A 51-year-old man, who had an outstanding arrest warrant, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

A 49-year-old woman is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, and a 21-year-old from Hamilton is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Police said another individual was found to have an unrelated arrest warrant and was taken into custody while the remaining people found inside the residence were released unconditionally.

Following the bail hearings, the court released all of the suspects with conditions.
