Over $17,000 in computer equipment was stolen in a recent break and enter.
Sarnia police said between Saturday, August 16 and Monday August 18, masked suspects cut a section of perimeter fencing and entered the compound of a South Vidal Street business.
Once inside, video surveillance caught the suspects removing computer equipment and several laptops and spray painting walls and security cameras.
A golf cart was also taken, but later found concealed near the fence line.
Police determined the suspects were likely to return to the scene for additional thefts.
At around 2 a.m. Wednesday, a patrol officer observed a vehicle parked near the same compound. Around the same time, security personnel called 911 reporting two individuals had gained entry to the property.
Additional officers, along with the K9 Unit and Emergency Response Team sent up a containment around the perimeter.
Police spotted a golf cart travelling toward the area of the damaged fence. Police allege the two suspects abandoned the cart and attempted to flee on foot toward the waiting vehicle, but were intercepted.
A 16-year-old and a 17-year-old were taken into custody without incident and face break and enter charges.
In accordance with Section 110 of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, their identities are protected and cannot be released.
The investigation is ongoing.
