Area beaches clear as heat wave continues

As Sarnia-Lambton residents find ways to battle the heat, area beaches have been given the all-clear for swimming.

Lambton Public Health conducts water testing at Grand Bend, Pinery Provincial Park, Ipperwash Main Beach, Highland Glen Park, Bright's Grove, and Canatara Beach.

The health unit said at this time, no warning signs are posted.

Following heavy rainfall, Lambton Public Health said the water at area beaches may be temporarily polluted for up to 48 hours.

Residents are advised to check the water quality status before going out to the beach.

Reports are available online at Lambton Public Health. Beachgoers can also text the word Beach to 226-909-3003, or call the Beach Info Line at 519-383-3816.

The health unit does not conduct water sampling along the St. Clair River.

Water quality monitoring at area beaches started at the beginning at the month, and will continue until August 29.
