Sarnia man killed in crash near Melbourne

A 39-year-old Sarnia man was killed in a collision near Melbourne on Wednesday.

Strathroy-Caradoc Police responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on Longwoods Road, between Glen Oak Road and Sutherland Road, at around 12:40 p.m.

Police told Sarnia News Today the vehicle hit a tree and the driver, and lone occupant, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The area was closed for an extended period of time while officers investigated.

Freezing rain was moving through the region at mid-day on Wednesday and roads were slick.

Police said weather conditions played a factor in the crash.
