$11M in suspected cocaine seized at BWB

Around $11 million worth of suspected cocaine was recently seized at the Blue Water Bridge (BWB).

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) said 419 kilograms of the drug were confiscated in two separate busts at the international crossing.

The CBSA said its National Targeting Centre worked with law enforcement to identify two commercial shipments potentially containing narcotics bound for Canada from the United States.

During the secondary exam of a tractor trailer on February 27, border services officers seized four duffle bags containing about 86 kg of suspected cocaine, with an estimated value of $2.3 million.

A week later, on March 6, the CBSA seized 333 kg of suspected cocaine from the trailer of a commercial load, with an estimated value of $9 million.

The RCMP have charged a 34-year-old from Innisfil and a 23-year-old from Brampton with importation of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Both matters are currently before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia.
