Local industry partners band together to support Inn

Over 40 blue collar workers from across Sarnia-Lambton will be stepping into the shoes of Inn of the Good Shepherd volunteers on Tuesday.

It's the first ever "Industry Takeover Day", coordinated by The Bluewater Association for Safety, Environment, and Sustainability (BASES), and its partners.

BASES Senior Communications Advisor Tracy Krull said the event highlights the generosity and community spirit of local industries, contracting companies, and trade unions uniting to make a meaningful difference.

From 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., workers will be doing things like receiving and sorting food donations, and assisting with the Inn’s Adopt-a-Family program.

"We thought, what better way to show our partnership and collaboration than to all come together and support such a worthy cause in our community," said Krull. "Participating members and partners are going to be taking over all of the volunteer opportunities at the Inn of the Good Shepherd, as well as collectively dropping off any canned food drives that were happening at individual facilities and bring it together as one joint venture."

Imperial has graciously stepped forward to provide, prepare, and serve lunch at the soup kitchen.

Other participants include companies like Suncor, Arlanxeo, Enbridge, Plains Midstream, Wolverine, and Fluor Driver.

Krull said their contributions, along with the efforts of BASES’ members and partners, exemplify the collaboration and shared commitment to the well-being of the Sarnia-Lambton community.
