Alleged scammers posing as contractors arrested

Sarnia police are hoping you can help them identify two alleged scammers.

Police said on Monday, December 9, two men attended a home on Franklin Avenue posing as contractors.

It's alleged they offered to clean the eavestroughs and a short time later, told the homeowner the work was done. The homeowner was also told the eavestroughs needed some repairs and the two men offered to do it for an additional fee.

The homeowner then realized no work had been done and called police, who located the individuals a short distance away.

During the investigation, officers determined the individuals had allegedly committed similar offences in another jurisdiction.

The pair were held for a bail hearing.

Police are trying to identify the two men, who produced identification from another country. If you have any information you're asked to call the Sarnia Police Service at 519-344-8861.

Police would also like to hear from any other potential victims of this scam.
