With just three weeks left to go, the Sarnia-Lambton United Way fundraising campaign has reached a major milestone.
Director of Development and Communications Ryan Doyle said they have surpassed the $1 million mark.
"There's still about $400,000 to go," said Doyle. "We are confident that we're going to make it. We've seen some preliminary numbers from some of the employee campaigns so we know that there is the money that's going to come in, we just haven't got final details yet."
The goal for this year's fundraising initiative is $1.487 million.
Doyle said they're appealing to donors who have contributed in the past, but may not have donated yet this year.
"Thank you for your support in the past, and hopefully you're willing to support again this year," he said. "There are vital programs on the line that we're trying to get funded, and hopefully we can make that happen."
A total of 17 local agencies receive funding from the United Way including Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Inn of the Good Shepherd and Habitat for Humanity.
