Alleged impaired driver arrested in downtown crash

A crash Tuesday night in Sarnia has resulted in impaired driving charges for a Lambton Shores woman.

Sarnia police were called to a single vehicle collision at around 10 p.m. at the intersection of Vidal Street North and Davis Street.

Police said a car was travelling north on Vidal Street when it allegedly failed to stop at a red light, lost control, hit a street sign and then a small tree before coming to a stop. No injuries were reported.

The 26-year-old driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving, failing to stop at a red light and operating a vehicle without insurance.

Police said the accused is currently before the courts for previous charges related to possession of controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking.

She was being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
