The Corunna Street Festival will shut down a portion of Lyndoch Street this weekend to allow for bouncy castles, live entertainment, and various family-friendly activities.
The free event will be held on September 21 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Planning Committee Chair Tracy Kingston said there will be Zumba, two different shows, stilt walkers, face painting, and a mermaid meet-and-greet.
"One of the highlights that we are having at noon is an Indigenous showcase," she said. "We have local dancers, drummers, and singers coming so that'll be a nice addition to our festival."
Kingston said a chalk area/quiet zone will also be set up at an area parking lot.
Over 40 local vendors will also be at the event, selling items such as candles, hot sauce, pottery, and macramé.
Kingston said there will not be food vendors on site as there are various restaurants and establishments within walking distance they're hoping attendees will visit.
The Knights of Columbus will also host a breakfast from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Parish Hall. Meals will cost $12 for adults and $6 for kids and will include free horse-drawn wagon rides from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.
The street festival was introduced last year in honour of Corunna's 200th anniversary.
Since there was a surplus, organizers decided to hold another street festival this year. However, Kingston said if a surplus remains after this weekend's event, funds will be returned to St. Clair Township.
She said if the festival were to continue next year, organizers would have to apply for new funding.
"It is a possibility if someone wants to be the fundraiser," Kingston chuckled.
The festivities on Saturday will shut down traffic on Lyndoch Street between Fane Street and Cameron Street.
