Stolen vehicle crashes in Lambton Shores

A Sarnia man was arrested following a collision involving a stolen vehicle over the weekend in Lambton Shores.

Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Anishinabek Police Service (APS) responded to the crash on Lakeshore Road at about 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 18.

APS members located the vehicle and driver. It's alleged after a brief conversation the individual fled on foot.

With help from the OPP Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team (ERT) the 38-year-old suspect was located and taken into custody without incident.

Police said it was determined the vehicle had been reported stolen in Sarnia.

The accused is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, obstructing a peace officer and failing to comply with release order-other than to attend court.

The accused was held pending a bail hearing and remanded into custody.

He was scheduled to appear in Sarnia court on August 21.
