Young adults with exceptionalities to hit the stage

A Sarnia theatre group is preparing to showcase young adults with exceptionalities.

Stars 21+ is putting on 'I Feel Like Dancing'.

It hits the stage on June 14 at 7 p.m. and June 15 at 2 p.m. at the Sarnia Library Auditorium.

Writer, Producer, and Director Holly Wenning said those starring in it are young adults.

She said Stars 21+ started when she realized her students aged out of the Pathways program.

"I said I'm going to retire, this is what I'm going to do, this is my passion and I'm going to get these kids on stage and give them an opportunity even at an older age to be on stage, sing, dance, tell jokes, act," Wenning said.

The show will feature a tap dance number, drumming, ASL number, and some live songs.

"I have 16 young adults who range up to 42 and it's a blast, we enjoy it so much, working every week," Wenning said.

She said more independence is being built into this year's show.

"I just push them, I know they are capable so I just push them. They are all telling jokes, holding a microphone and out there in front," Wenning said. "We're loving it, it's so positive, this is my heart and soul and my passion."

Tickets are on sale at Harbour Bay Clothing and Gifts on Front Street for $15.

Friday night is sold out but there are tickets still available for Saturday.

Tickets for Saturday will also be available at the door.
