Imperial restarting following planned maintenance turnaround

Imperial Oil is restarting its process equipment following a planned maintenance turnaround at the Sarnia refinery.

The company notified the public, through Sarnia-Lambton Alerts on Tuesday, that the restart is expected to take between seven and 10 days.

"During this time, community members may notice intermittent periods of elevated flaring and noise offsite," said Public and Government Affairs Manager Kristina Zimmer.

Zimmer said Imperial personnel have carefully planned this work to minimize the flaring as much as possible.

"Our focus will continue to be on safety as we return the site to normal operations," she added.

Imperial previously told Sarnia News Today the spring turnaround was expected to take about six weeks to complete and the site would likely return to normal operations by early May.
