Facebook and Instagram users were unable to scroll their feeds for over an hour on Tuesday.
Outages on Meta sites were reported just before 10:30 a.m.
According to an outage tracking website called Downdetector, over 126,000 users reported a Facebook outage and over 23,000 users reported issues with Instagram.
Issues were also reported for Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp but on a smaller scale.
Meta released a brief statement Tuesday afternoon apologizing for the inconvenience but did not explain what caused the disruption.
