Proposed Petrolia development clears hurdle

A proposed housing development at 322 Eureka St. in Petrolia, which includes a cluster of new townhouses, has taken another step forward.

Zoning bylaw amendments were approved at a recent council meeting for the proposed development of multiple townhouses located on the east side of Eureka Street, between Gables Avenue and Catherine Street.

The rezoning permit will allow for four townhouses to be built with six dwellings each, for a total of 24, and a minimum lot frontage of 20.5 metres.

Area residents previously voiced concerns about the proposed project, specifically regarding drainage. At that meeting on February 5, Mayor Brad Loosley said those matters would be dealt with later in the planning process.

County staff told Sarnia News Today, there is a 20-day appeal period from February 20. If there are no appeals once that period expires, the next step would be the site plan process.
